Safe Handgun Competitor Course The USPSA Safe Handgun Competitor Course, MA Edition, provides a two day introduction to the sport of Practical Handgun Shooting. The course takes two days and runs from 10AM-5PM Saturday Dec 4, and 10AM-3PM Sunday, Dec 5. Prerequisite This course is intended for individuals who are already familiar with safe handgun operation, but are not experienced in the sport of USPSA/IPSC Practical Shooting. What You Need You will need hearing protection, eye protection, a center fire handgun with at least two magazines or speed loaders, and a belt mounted holster that covers the trigger guard when the firearm is holstered. If you do not have appropriate equipment, or do not possess a MA License to Carry firearms and therefore cannot bring a firearm to class, we can generally arrange to make loaner equipment available at no additional charge. You will also need 150 rounds of ammunition for your handgun. You can bring your own or purchase ammo on the day of the class as the American Firearms School. Cost The course costs $75 and includes lunch on both days. There is a $10 fee for cancellations. Instructor Qualifications The primary course instructor is certified as an instructor by the United States Practical Shooting Association, and the state of Massachusetts. The other instructor is a retired career police officer with instructor certifications from the NRA, the MA State Police, and the MA Criminal Justice Training Council. He is still active in various police training activities and organizations. Course Certification This course is certified by the United States Practical Shooting Association, as well as the State of Massachusetts. The course is certified as meeting the Massachusetts training requirement for firearms licensing. A state certificate, and copy of MA State Police documentation confirming the certified status of this course will be provided upon completion of the course.
