  • Basic Firearms Safety Course (On-Site at AFS)

        Required course for a Mass. Permits Class A, Class B, or FID card

Basic Firearms Safety Course covers:

 

Types of licenses, General laws, types of firearms, types of ammunition, shooting fundamentals, actual firing on range, everything including equipment is included in the fee.

This course and the instructors are certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Courses are held every other Saturday from 9am to 5pm (1 day course,1 hour for lunch)

  •  Learn To Shoot Program

    A great opportunity for the beginning shooter for only $40.00! 

    The Learn To Shoot Package includes:

  • Instructor 

  • Range Time

  • (1) .22 caliber firearm

  • 100 Rounds (.22 caliber)

  • 2 Targets

     This package does NOT fulfill the State Requirement for a Massachusetts LTC/FID. 

Offer only used with .22 caliber, CANNOT trade up calibers for this package.

  • ESSENTIAL SKILLS

       

Geared toward the beginner or newly licensed shooter; this course focuses on the basic fundamental skills of handgun shooting.

  • Essential Skills Course Description:

The Course topics include:

          Stance

          Grip

          Sight Alignment

          Sight Picture

          Trigger Control

          Breathing

          Follow Through

 

Course is 3 hours in length 9am to Noon

Limit 6 students per class

$75.00 - Member         $100.00 - Non-Member

Note* Students will need a handgun, holster and 50 rounds

Pre-requisite: Student must have taken a Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course or have a Rhode Island Blue Card.

·         Intro to Concealed Carry Course

 

The 2nd course in a series of courses for the shooter who is considering carrying a concealed firearm for self defense. The course is designed to give students a solid foundation of knowledge in the concealed carry of firearms. The course includes live fire, practical application of drawing techniques and practical shooting. This course is a prerequisite for our concealed carry II class.

$225.00 - Member     $275.00 - Non-Member

This is a 12hr course presented over two days.

Limit 6 students per class                                 Students will need at least 100 rounds

Pre-requisite: Student must have taken NRA Basic Pistol or Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course AND have a license to carry (from any state) AND have their own handgun. Students MUST have taken the Essential Skills Course prior to taking the Concealed Carry Course

 


  • Concealed Carry II

        The 3rd course in a series of courses designed by AFS for the shooter who is beginning to carry a handgun

Concealed Carry II Course Description

This course will cover engaging multiple threats; moving to cover and concealment; shooting while moving; reloading; low light shooting; and more

$225.00 - Member     $275.00 - Non-Member

Courses are a day and a half long on Saturday and Sunday

  • NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course

Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.

NRA Personal Protection In the Home Course description

 

This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.

$150.00 - Member $175.00 - Non-member

Course is One Day (8) Hours

Limit 12 students per class

  • NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home

Comprehensive and intensive in its approach to equip the defensive shooting candidate with the skills needed to survive serious adversity.

 

NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course description

 

The course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home. Students have the opportunity to attend this course using a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. From a review of safe firearms handling and proper mindset to presentation from concealment and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.

$300 - Call to register

Course is two days 12pm to 9pm

Limit 12 students per class

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the NRA Personal Protection in the Home course.

Student equipment requirements: Carry Firearm with owner's manual, holster, fanny pack, extra magazines/speed loaders with appropriate belt pouches, Eye & Ear protection, a SOLID holster belt, dummy rounds or snap caps, firearm mounted light or other appropriate carry flashlight, over garment, such as, over shirt, or light jacket concealed carry and approximately 600 rounds of ammunition. KNEE AND ELBOW PADS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED! A Shooters mat or car mats also will come in handy.
